Written Scheme of Investigation

A WSI is a pre-commencement report that sets out the methodology, and brief background (sometimes including a search of the Council Historic Environment Record)  of information on both the project and the history/archaeology and/or designations of the Development Area.

This must be approved by the local council archaeological officer, or the relevant planning officer, before it is discharged in planning to enable you to commence on your site and proceed with the development phase.
